Burna Boy’s next album “African Giant” is finished
According to the Afrobeat superstar, it could be released at any time now.
Burna announced the new album at a private listening event in Hollywood. Appropriately titled African Giant, the album is reportedly finished and ready to go, though Burna Boy may take his time with it. He just released the Steel & Copper EP with DLDS and his previous album, Outside, continues to slap like it always has. Even with all these accomplishments, Burna only wants to share more of his musical vision. If musicians learned anything from the consistent rollouts from hit-factories like Drake or Ariana Grande, constant content keeps people listening.
With a drink in hand and an icon of Fela Kuti around his neck, Burna looked pleased with the turnout to his event. Friends from Wale to Jidenna came out to show their support for the Nigerian superstar, who just came off a hot set at Coachella this weekend. When asked about a release date, he merely smiled and said it could drop at any moment.
Much like his previous album, African Giant fuses together Afrobeat and hip-hop sensibilities for a wonderful effect. The effect in question happens to be dancing, which everyone at this event did in abundance. Afrobeat sounds gain global popularity by the day, and Burna Boy stands to become one of the leaders of this trend.
If the album response is anything like Outside‘s, expect the African Giant himself to only grow larger in 2019.
